Placing numbers on a number line
In Year 4, we place numbers on a number line into the thousands. This is quite a tricky estimating skill. We have looked at helping our positioning by splitting the line into sections e.g. 0 – 1000 we can find the half way point to know where 500 is and then quarter to find 250 and 750. This makes it much easier to place numbers. Here is a game which you could play to practise the skill. Choose 0 – 1000. Move the red flag into position and see how close you are.
